Original doc original doc This is a really good account of her story, her motivations and what she has gone through. If you have the time I think you should read it. Google translate did a pretty good job. Many graduate girls set themselves global goals: to enter a university on a budget, find an interesting job, save up money and see the world. I dreamed of leaving school not pregnant and raising as much dough as possible, to move from the hostel to Kupchino, make silicone breasts, grow 500 strands of Slavic hair, in other words, get into people. The question was an edge: what can I do? All my life experience at that time was reduced to an abusive relationship with a young man ten years older: we started dating when I was 14. He taught me how to be a good girl and obey the master in everything, so by the age of 18 I came with a background from collars, slaps and butt plugs. In general, I became a girl quite early: at the age of 12, my periods began, my breasts formed. The boys were interested, the girls envied. Until one day at school they arranged a dark one for me - they started a rumor that I was standing on Budapest Street and moonlighting as a prostitute. At a break, a guy came up to me, held out 1, 000 rubles and offered to give him a blowjob. I refused and cried for a very long time in the toilet. At that time, I was a virgin and never kissed a boy. But still, fragments of childhood memories lead me to men's pants. I spent summer with my grandmother, she is very religious and we often prayed together, read the Bible. Then I believed in God. Once with my cousins and a younger brother, we went to church. We were 11-12 years old. A winding road overgrown with raspberries led to the church, it went down, encircled a burned-out house, went down through a birch grove and went out to a white stone church fence. We happily fled to morning service, ate raspberries from the bush, laughed, it remains to run a little more. And then. out of nowhere from the raspberry appeared a silhouette of a man. It was a man. He is wearing a hat and dressed like a forester. He blocked our way, we stopped.   The sun rose behind his shoulders, the golden domes of the church shone. He took a member from his pants and began to masturbate. The bells rang. We ran back and forth, home. Who would have thought that I, running to the service of Katya, would then become the one to which uncles, boys and boys from different countries masturbate, from Russia to Mexico. How i became monroe Summer before the first course. I kept wondering how to pay for a university and express inner insanity. I understood that I wouldnt pull the budget, and my mother wont pull the paid. I wanted money, change and a quantum leap to get out of my comfort zone, as self-development books taught. One April evening, while I was drinking tea and waiting for a friend, a man sat down in a cafe on Sadovaya and said: “You are so beautiful. I would like to offer you a job. ” He spoke about a cool project, after which people come back with others: a villa in Spain, a professional approach to filming, high-quality models. He said that I can act in solo and I will practically not need to do anything. Showed some videos - I liked it. I thought: “Kaif, for two shooting weeks I will finally rest after school and earn on silicone breasts, because, as my Dima said:“ Silicone is better than my own, but small. ” I did not want to discuss a tempting proposal with anyone, because I had already made a decision. The only problem was the fear that the videos might pop up on the network and someone they knew would see them. But they promised me that this would not happen, because only rich Americans are sitting on the site. Im honest, I didnt know about the scale of porn business. And I decided. Father of a little slut The topic of sex has always been interesting to me, but this was not particularly encouraged in the family: I had to quietly learn the details from the magazine Speed Info. I read it at the newsstand where my other grandmother worked. Mother father. Father never lived with me and mom. We had rare meetings, but we had fun. When I was eight, I found a stack of porn magazines at his house - and thought of the women on the cover as very brave Amazons. I admired them. At 16, relations with his father deteriorated. He found me on VKontakte and he really did not like my photos. He called his mother and said that I almost uploaded pornographic photos to the network and read Lolita. So only little whores behave. Photos were ordinary, compared to the present - innocent. I was very offended. And a year before this situation, we had a tough conversation where he tried to open up for me and explain why he left my mother and me. And in between he asked me not to act in porn. I dont know why the father spoke of such a 15-year-old daughter and how this thought was born in his head. Maybe I saw talent, or maybe I saw my fear. So sad and a little funny that this was our last more or less adequate dialogue. Filming in Ibiza As soon as I graduated from school, I immediately applied for journalism, entered a university for a fee, made a visa to Spain - and flew to my first and last porn shootings in my life. At the airport I was met by two good-natured young men and escorted to the villa. I have not yet seen such beauty, everything was new for me: hot air, rocks, greenery, people - stylish, free and beautiful. I had no idea where they were taking me, and just looked out the window. When the white doors of the villa opened, I saw a swimming pool, on which three young girls sunbathed on the deckchairs in cat's bliss. Their bodies were smeared with oil and their skin dissolved in light. It was incredibly beautiful. It was as if I woke up in a movie with gorgeous views, beautiful women, in an atmosphere of complete relaxation. Only this was for real, my new life: from a tiny Kupchinsky room I ended up in a posh house in the mountains! I was brought already by the end of the porn season, so there were only seven people in the huge villa: two cameramen, a technical director and four models. They gave a contract with a list of rules: no photos, drugs, alcohol or strangers in the villa. I checked my passport and birth certificate to make sure that I have 18. Despite the beauty around, on the evening of the first day I was sad. Sitting by the pool with "Count Dracula" in my hands I saw how one of the young models was being filmed. She completely without hesitation and clamps wriggled in a large hall on a common sofa. And then I got scared that I couldnt manage, I couldnt accept myself that much. Apart from me and the operator, no one looked at the girl; everyone was busy with their own affairs. Naked orgasmic women were a matter of course, a wonderful routine, a pleasant background. I sat by the pool and cried about my bitter fate: if I refuse to shoot, then I will have a debt, I wont make money and go home. I didnt want to return. Relations with my mother were very tense, a little brother was born, and I was fucked by a protracted transitional age. Returning to the guy is also not an option: after five years of relationship, he was not ready to live with me, and he did not need an 18-year-old stupid girl without money and goals. One of the organizers of the wow-show noticed that I was crying, walked over and reassured. He suggested trying to make a video, and if I dont like it or it doesnt work out, then the video will be deleted and tickets will be bought home. He added from above that the chance of being noticed and recognized is very small. I can not worry about this. The first video was the most exciting: I was wrapped in a delicate body and golfs, they emphasized my innocence with a make-up and tied two tails. Filmed on the terrace, on a wooden wide chair. I was very worried at first, but then plunged into tenderness, caressing the sun's rays. I let go of the past, all resentment, I forgot - and worked like clockwork. I felt like a welcome little girl lying on a soft cloud at the door of the Garden of Eden. There was no talk of stopping. There was no turning back, and I didnt want to. We shot 28 clips, each paid about a hundred bucks. Return to reality I returned another to where nothing had changed. A sense of longing, lack, hopelessness were markers of the time. I raised a little money, spent it on a macbook and was upset that I didnt have enough on my chest. I began to frantically think how to earn more. Almost immediately after returning, a friend of my photographer sent me a screen from a porn site - it was my photo. In a panic, I wrote to one of the filming organizers and began to clarify where my topless photo came from freely available, and even from the Russian guys. I was reassured, promised to close everything and make access exclusively for American accounts. That's when I first thought that I was fucked. In a panic, I decided that I had to leave all social networks and go to a friend in the Moscow region. In search of work, she contacted a Muscovite girl from the set: she arranged for me to search for models through VKontakte groups for private parties and commercial advertising. And six months later, my friend threw off the link to the video and wrote that he was following my work. When I opened it, there was a figure of 130 thousand views and commentary paintings in Russian under the video. I was shocked. It was clear that many would soon find out about this, if not all. Therefore, I decided to first tell my friends the bitter truth: they did not turn away from me, even consoled. They said that everything will be fine and God grant me nerves. When I confessed to my whole young man, he reacted relatively coldly, was a little offended that I hadnt said anything to him before, but this did not become a reason for our breakup: according to him, we never met, but he just fucked me sometimes. So some support from him was felt, despite the lack of normal relations between loving people. At some point I even got a buzz from the fact that so many men dream of his woman, and only he has me. Harassment has begun At that time, my life was chaos. I lived between St. Petersburg and Moscow, then deleted, then restored social networks - the first messages from unknowns began to come to me: they wrote that they would upload the video to all my friends if I did not transfer money to them. I never agreed with the blackmailers, but simply boldly sent to a dick. As a result, all my friends received messages with my videos and photos (its good that I confessed to everyone before. the glory of the porno girl began to gain momentum. I remember how once at a friend's house I cooked food for a company of friends of 10 people. At that moment they watched my videos in the next room and laughed. Rollers instantly scattered across friends. My former biology teacher watched erotica with eighth graders right in the classroom. Even a sister who lives in Ivanovo, a long-time acquaintance, dropped the link. It seemed that the whole world had already seen my vagina. The scales of my fucking place became clear when they wrote about me at Dvach and Picabu. In the comments, a holivar about real age began, which is probably why the videos became so popular: many were sure that at the time of filming I was fourteen years old. In the comments there were links to all my accounts and friends' pages, the number of my school and a lot of a hat about appearance and life guidelines. Particularly impressive is a brief ironic-ridiculed biography, where I am called a whore, a Kupchinsky crush and a dumb pussy. pikabu (another link I couldnt find yet) After these damn posts on Picabu, I lost sleep. It was scary that my parents would find out about everything - this thought paralyzed. The blackmail, threats and detective investigations of activists who are fighting online with the sale of the body seemed garbage compared to the reaction of my mother. But life went on. Work began to work out, the young man suddenly showed warmth - offered to move in, and we moved to a St. Petersburg apartment, in which he eventually did not appear. Relocation to St. Petersburg Hometown met lousy. Unlike the Moscow Region, in St. Petersburg they recognized me on the streets, shouted nastiness in my back, spat. Deliberately did -phi! Attacked in the comments on my social networks, wished for death. I could not even calmly just go to the bar, there were always women who loudly said that I was a whore. For all. And the men who discussed the details of my videos so that I heard, and then came up and asked for a photo. After parties, conversations with people, even after the most sincere conversations, people wrote on Twitter - thumped with a pornstar. Everyone threw a stone. They began to follow me: unknown on social networks took off a photo of my house and wrote that I was now under surveillance. They left notes on the door, stockings with a bra were glued to the wall on the stairs of my floor. I have no idea who and why it was needed. Once a fan got into my apartment and stole my hair, after which he put it on the net. It turned out like this: an unknown guy wrote to me on VKontakte and said: “Im standing at your house, they beat me, I have nowhere to go. ” I get down and see a small 17-year-old boy, all in blood, with a bottle of vodka. He said that he had a fight with a taxi driver, I invited him to wash and disinfected his wounds. And then he left, taking with him the extended shred from my comb - the boy posted a photo with this treasure on the Internet. The most pleasant was the attention from foreigners. It turned out that I'm incredibly popular in Mexico, North America, Chile. Foreigners were loyal, did not call names, and with adoration and joy wrote me enthusiastic messages. But among them, there were enough strange ones. One of them from Canada wrote to me that her son suffers from suicidal thoughts (after the death of his father) and that he is in love with me - if I communicate with him, it will save him. And I had to keep correspondence until the 14-year-old son was completely insolent. He wrote every day, and if I did not answer, he said that he would kill himself. As a result, I was tired, advised him to think about his mother and stop being a whiner who blackmails everyone with his own death. Or let it bring the matter to an end. Added him to the blacklist - I hope he didnt do anything to himself, little bastard.   There was a bright side to my notoriety - at some point, interesting proposals for filming began to come in, they called me to appear on popular YouTube channels such as click-clack and badroom. Many famous people threw respect. Awareness of popularity came when the creators of MDK suggested taking a picture for an avatar. At that time, they were one of the most popular public VK. And I was happy to receive such an offer - I understood that I could no longer control the situation, but I could get out of it beautifully. For me it was a kind of recognition. It worked. With the appearance of my face on the MDK with the flag of the USSR, the wave of the hat was replaced by a wave of admiration, the main tension subsided. When I came to bars, a gym or to eat at McDonald's - they often asked me to take a picture or sign an autograph with me, it was nice. Although it turned out to check that my fame is toy, puffy, useless. Sometimes famous people got to know me and offered cooperation, but then it turned out that they were interested in something completely different. I was inspired by one young man, I thought he was inspired by me, because his path was also thorny. And then from third parties I learned that he was looking for a pornstar for his collection - a list of those whom he fucked. With some well-known bloggers, we had to stir up a collaboration, and everything went well, after shooting we went to a bar, the dude from the team got drunk and began to sympathize with my parents: “Oh, your poor father, God forbid my daughter will do that. Oh, I feel sorry for you. And there were a lot of such cases. I realized that people are not interested in my personality. It is rather a curiosity, as a strange thing. By and large, on my inner world and talents it was all a shit. And the more popular I became, the more the image of a porn star grew for me. Dad found my videos For more than two years I was tormented by paranoid thoughts that my mother would find out about everything. And she found out. I called and said: “Thank you very much, Katya. My dad dropped a link to your videos. Thanks. And I hung up. It was one of the worst moments in my life. I dont remember whether she wrote a letter, apologized. But she came. She asked: “What should we do now, Katya? Maybe you need to leave the city? ” I replied that it wasnt worth it - I lived somehow these years. And she forgave me, as only a mother can forgive. It turned out that my father was walking around the Internet in his bachelor life and found my video. I called her in tears, said that I was a disgrace to the family and my mother raised a whore, as he thought. After a couple of years, I wrote him a letter that I really love and that we need to forgive each other. He refused in a rude manner. We did not communicate anymore. But my mother finally accepted me and a year after that conversation said that everyone chooses how to live his life and not for her to judge me. It was important for me to hear this. After the parents found out, it became much calmer: I stopped being so vulnerable, got the support of my mother and let go of my fathers thoughts when I realized that he was totally disappointed and couldnt fix anything. Why are they hitting me? At heart, I did not understand why shooting in erotica cause such powerful reactions among others. After all, by and large, nothing happened. Well, I shot naked, masturbate on camera, so what? Despite the hat, gossip behind my back and reproaches in the face, I did not agree with my position in society. Reactions to any of my posts on social networks always came down to comments in the spirit: “What can this whore except sit on a bottle? ”, “Katya, dont even try. The only thing you can do is spread your legs. When you finally accept that you are a pornstar and do hard porn. And with such reviews everything was littered - regardless of what I did. I should not even go to work - it was obvious that the exploits of youth would overshadow any professional skills. At the university, they began to talk behind him, someone openly threw the present. In the dining room between the couples, older students whispered about me, friends at the university reprimanded me for filming and said: “How could you! We are so disappointed in you. And one of the journalism professors always set off, a cool guy. As a result, I transferred to correspondence, and then left because I could not pay for my studies. I was very shy about going out, especially with my mother. The psyche could not withstand collisions with a hat in reality. The persecution was so powerful, the disappointment of my parents was so deep that I wanted to die, but I thought I did not deserve it. I was thrown from a wave of hatred into a wave of adoration: I either reaped the fruits of success in likes, sometimes choked with a hat and considered myself the last person on earth. I was too fragile and addicted. When they stopped calling me to shoot and it became hard with work, the young man was left behind. I was practically on the street with a dog and a cat, my boobs and regrown roots. I did not understand how to live on without material and emotional support. Panic attacks began, gnawed her hands to meat. My weight fluctuated 10kg round trip. I went out only at night, hanging out at dumb Kupchin parties, using drugs and drinking. And in the afternoon she woke up in a serotonin pit, cried, slept, or read books. Friends brought me food and money - they helped me for almost a year, while I was in a severe depression and did not work. Its hard to remember.    Everything finally changed one autumn evening: I sat on the floor in the brothel and ate a doshirak: drunk people shouted around me, smelled of fumes and hashish, and we took pictures and laughed, sitting on the sticky floor. I realized that this is my bottom. Then such despair overtook me that I did not know how I survived that night. But in the morning I decided that I need to study. Until I take a serious professional and personal step, I will have no soil under my feet, and no protection behind me. If only something worked I threw all my money into buying courses and books. I tried everything. Compiled kilometer lists with goals. I starved, prayed and meditated in the hope that at least something would work out, I would find myself and be able to exist. I read about 100 books on personal growth and philosophy, looking for answers. She studied Freud, listened to psychoanalytic lectures and tried to figure out herself. Fought the urge to drink, eat and suffer. She got off her friendss neck and started making money as best she could - selling retro-style dresses and femininity courses, organizing parties, arranging instagram accounts and conducting photo shoots. I also revived my social networks and decided to share my experiences on the blog - through the text I spoke about the most difficult topics: about porn, parents, and finding a way. There were fewer haters. More knowledge, skills and abilities honed. However, when I decided to study English, the tutor refused me. It turned out that she found me on VKontakte and saw pictures: moreover, it was not pornography, but just beautiful erotica without boobs. I was also lucky at last: I met a good man who supported me and loved me. He went in for sports, learned languages, traveled a lot. He allowed me to introduce a little art and psychoanalysis into his life, he accepted me with all doubts, depressions and pornorollers. It was difficult to find a balance between the desire to forget and move forward. At some point, I was so chasing self-improvement that I lost myself in this. I so wanted to find my job and mission that I turned my back on many friends who helped me in a difficult period, but did not want to tie up with parties, alcohol and an aimless existence. Its OK now. I could describe my condition as stable. I am grateful to my experience, but I cant put my hand on my heart and say that it is completely behind. Foreigners still write to me, acquaintances make greasy jokes, although 8 years have passed since the filming. But I'm not worried. Because of bullying, I understood a lot about myself and people. Arrogance just hit me: though it hurts, its sobering. You cease to be biased towards others, you begin to look at things more widely, once again you keep your opinion to yourself and do not give advice if you do not ask. And when you doubt your right to exist, one day you will discover a world of the same insecure, not very brave people who are ready to gnaw their throats to those who are weaker and crawl under the one who is on horseback. And you understand. that yes, you also have the right not only to live, but also to be yourself.

I have feel right now 😓💔. I dedicate this to the love of my life. He went to prison for life, this is how I deal with it. I can't move on & I miss you. Ordinary Love Movie online pharmacy. 'Ordinary Love (2019) is exactly what it says on the tin: a portrait of mundane, turbulent, beautiful love. It charts the journey of a couple moving through tough times and is as thoughtful and nuanced as you'd hope. Its story is rather straightforward (it's pretty much exactly what you'd expect) but it delivers what it needs to and feels all the more 'real' because of it. The focus of the film is something that isn't actually explored all that often and it's great to see it portrayed so sensitively here. The picture's grounded, non- romanticised' romance is brilliant, too. It feels as close to 'real' as possible, an honest and moving exploration of love that never seems heightened or false. The two stars deliver the goods in their subtle, harder-than-you-may-expect roles, coming together as a compelling pair of, essentially, real people. They have flaws and they argue but they also have an undeniable connection. When this is exploited, it's really heart-warming. When it comes down to it, though, the flick just isn't all that exciting or, perhaps, impactful. It's engaging enough and never even close to boring, but it doesn't quite hit home as hard as it ought to. It's good, don't get me wrong. I can't quite put into words what it is that it is, for me, missing. I guess I'll say it like this: it's good, but it's not great. 6/10.

Peter left to find away for revenge, or simply not wanting to see any again. Peter: A bar and food sounds hot. Ill stay for the night.  Danny: I like you. We can live together.  Peter: I like sound of that.  As two went into elevator, another door swung right open as entered. The elevator took awhile to close, loud footsteps. Two lovebugs worked together closing elevator as fast as they could. Danny: Strange… Peter: Yeah either were crazy or some tech issues with the elevator. recorded on phone   The two went into a bar.  Ate just poutine, drunk some sweet alcohol. Got drunk so went to sleep in room of Dannys for night. Though night would have the soon fated couple pounding hearts, disorient, distrust, trust, gaslight, adrenaline rush, paralysm to move, grasp of spirit killers. Other girls happened to be staying in the same hotel. Cops are coming, family spotted Peter only to gaslight, and banished by God through christianity. Treated as weird and odd. The parents accepted, but some stranger didnt know, yet not so much a stranger. Even Peters dog followed, aunts dog followed, yet ignored those two with no interest as the past self. Still phone has photos of horny hot guys attract his dick horniss, rising the drive. Quickly, Peter and Danny said “Piece of shit family, fuck you” The two returned, to historic hotel, yet haunted better than everywhere else. Incredible every fuck, bj, cum goes everywhere, lips connect, banging backs, and hump. Feeling sensation of skin, bones, muscular, warm, cozy, cute two hots. Soon two went to sleep. Over by doors, over by hallway, bathroom, under bed, even closet, on TV, through window reflections and mirrors appear dead of past.  Peter: screams   Danny: You okay sweetie.  Peter: Yeah just the strangest nightmare. We went back in time, bunch of earthquakes, something in the mirrors, windows, closet, door. Ill just stay up staring at phone for a bit. Be fine. My dreams are also vivid, I like nightmares, theyre quite enjoyable.  Danny: Quite character, never met anyone who enjoyed nightmares.  Peter: I actually dislike full of sunshine and sugar type persons.  Danny: I hear ya. goes back to sleep   Peter just stares at the phone going through photos and videos, only to see ghost by chairs, mirror above. The elevator was most weird part of all, instead of going down left, he went down on right side. Eyes widen. A little boy and mom also went down earlier, only those never appear in data book or came back. Those two died 100 years ago, by a serial killer. Peter went for a walk, with Danny. Only to look at one mirror, alongside some of the girls. Soon they went back 100 years ago. Otherside, they keep yelling for help, try elevator, no one was out. Just sudden vanishes. Cant leave doors locked. Elevators disorienting, going out on differents sides, not going at all. Just staying.  Girl: We need to get out.  Girl: But how? The minute I see one  or hear of one, tell myself to go, but actually turn around as if feel some evil aura from far away. The places Ive been to Winchester Mystery House, The Hell Tree, a cemetery, Empress Hotel, haunted forest wildered that possessess asylum wrecked farm farmhouse with something underneath, Black Diamond Mines where legend has it a witch accused for being from the 1800s burned at the stake so her ghost moves along dark tunnel of those mines, Cementery also close. Getting in its surrounded by abandoned windmills, small farm barns, houses, cattle roam the upperlands. Be alone, no one at the site of Black Diamond Mines, you will see the ghost. Tell her no such thing as a witch, sorry, share empathy for the bullshit she went through,  and leave. Other places Ive been to in Los Gatos East Alamenden exists a museum once home to those who dictated area leading for disease which killed all the Mexican immigrants. Cults you cant leave, leave you die will in my case not really. Im a two time cult survivor abandoned in Hollywood, surrounded by sexual predators for some ritual massage. I will leave immediately any group that has sexual predators in it, force me to stay against my will, dont act what they say as if exact opposite those who wants utopia actually seek death and war. I had no idea for years or for few hours that these groups are crazy beings desperate for power, use people to abuse them. Endless unrealistic triumph, trying to get higher achieve a place to make decisions too. Save persons from their death, be a hero. Those leaders believed in me, said to go into next available team for years, lies. Just endless, mentally exhausted, driving members crazy on purpose. Shame to extent, real activists just believed to be true. Apologized, continuous shame or fake forgiveness. When you leave to live life or simple move on, behind your back theyll talk shit. Gaslight, youll be endless did I do that? Oh I really dont care about persons? Maybe I did dont care for dogs? Can I leave? Ill leave right now, no feeling the pleasure of wanting to be loved, engaged, or whatever my wants are. But those wants and pleasures are exact opposites and fake. Drive you for suicidal thoughts? When you leave a cult, no what if the whole world is a cult culture. Live life at home with pets, seek the great outdoors for  hiking or beach, watch movies, out to eat, overall just do absolutely nothing is sometimes the safest thing to do. Take my mind of things.  I play Pokemon in my room after waking up from some nightmare, about a haunted house dream regularly. tell myself about Winchester Mystery House, Mare Island, or find some new place. There are no haunted places in Marin, too close. Haunted must be far can never reach, never reach away once enter the boundaries. I say, “Lets go Marley to Black Diamond Mines or Mare Island or some new place. ” No rush indeed, Ill search around on the internet, or just drive find someplace random to go. Ghosts are not resting in peace, they died at a time shouldnt have, feeling regret, envy the living who live their own future which could have, wanting to live another life reincarnation at least. Time Time runs differently for ghosts, and haunted places. They are means of history. Houses are alive, tunnels are alive, cemeterys are alive, yet are all dead at same time. This is something that I noticed since joining the Star Wars fandom online as an active member 2017, and especially more recently with the "leaks" and rumors surrounding The Rise of Skywalker (TROS. While I won't be addressing any spoilers, confirmed or potential, there is something else I will be confronting, and that is the general attitude of "wish fulfillment" with the franchise as a whole - and that the franchise is still about "wish fulfillment" even though it has since moved beyond that focus. Ever since the inception of the sequel trilogy, back in 2014-2015, and the push by Disney to change the franchise - not only to update and "modernize" it, but to "diversify" its casting - there seems to have been a pushback from "hardcore" Star Wars fans. Most of these fans were straight, white men, many of whom had grown up with the series. Likewise, it didn't help that George Lucas, the creator of Star Wars, said as late as 2015 in an interview for Strange Magic that. Star Wars is for little boys, not for little girls. Strange Magic is for little girls. Furthermore, a more recent Reddit survey of r/starwars showed that roughly 90% of respondents identified as male, which is a huge gender disparity, especially compared to other subreddits, like r/harrypotter, which has a roughly 50/50 gender balance between male and female fans. In that same survey, true to most of the respondents being men, there was a clear preference for male characters, and particularly, Force-sensitives, such as the Skywalkers, even ranking more minor male characters over prominent female characters, like Rey and Leia. At first glance, it would seem that this is natural, given that Star Wars is, quite obviously, a thinly-veiled "wish fulfillment" fantasy for its male creator, George Lucas. Not only was Star Wars heavily based on male-centric sci-fi and sci-fantasy shows, such as Flash Gordon, that he had grown up around and heavily identified with as a boy, but seems to have looked to in order to define his sense of self, identity, and masculinity growing up. Lucas also wanted to be fighter pilot, and tried to enlist as an officer with the USAF (U. S. Air Force) only to be denied due to having a physical condition (diabetes. As such, Lucas created Star Wars - and Luke Skywaker - as a way to live out his dreams on-screen, albeit in the form of an author avatar. He would also come to heavily tie in Star Wars to not only his own perception of masculinity and male power (i. e. the story centering on Anakin Skywalker, the most powerful Jedi / Chosen One. but also saw Star Wars as a legacy to pass onto his own son(s. Intended or not - and also speaking from a similar experience of having a would-be USAF officer and fighter pilot as a father - this also heavily reflects much of traditional "military culture" where fighting and piloting is seen as a "male" discipline. Those themes, both more overtly and subtly, also permeated both the original trilogy, and later, the prequel trilogy, and imparted themselves - both consciously and subconsciously - upon the minds of fans of the movies. One common pattern I've seen male fans cite is that they either saw the OT or PT as children, often through "father-son" bonding - as Lucas did with his own sons with Star Wars - and that really stuck with them for years, and greatly shaped their thoughts and feelings towards the franchise. Even with actors like Adam Driver, who was cast as Ben Solo / Kylo Ren in the sequel trilogy, we also see stories of fathers or dads imparting Star Wars to their sons, or introducing them to the series. It became a "male tradition" seen as "by men, for [for] men. I think that it is this attitude, which was promoted by Lucas and Lucasfilm for decades, and its prevalence in the fandom that is one of the primary things causing problems with how the series is still being perceived today. I also think, for many, because Star Wars was seen as a gendered thing - targeting male audiences - for so long, with Lucas himself perpetuating and promoting Star Wars as "gendered" that it is now huting the franchise's attempts to move on and forward with the changing times. One of the problems with the "wish fulfillment" aspect - which I have also seen in another prominent, but very similar, fandom with Doctor Who - is that it is just that. wish fulfillment. Lucas conceived and created the series originally to vicariously "fulfill his wishes" of becoming a USAF fighter pilot, in both the form of Luke Skywalker - and later, Anakin Skywalker / Darth Vader. Both Luke and Anakin are not only portrayed as expert or master pilots, true to Lucas's own dream for himself, but also the hero(es) of the Saga at-large. Likewise, Lucas also mixed in elements of [male] power fantasy, likely stemming from his feelings of powerlessness in being unable to realize his dream (i. unable to control being born with diabetes, or being denied due to it) in the form of "the Force. While Lucas, quite clearly, based the original trilogy off of Joseph Campbell's book The Hero's Journey, there are also strong Arthurian elements, including ties to medieval tales and ideas that were widely seen as tying into traditional "masculinity" and patriarchy. True to form, both Luke and Anakin are not only "special" or "royal. with the Skywalkers being "descended from the Chosen One [of the Force. but everything Lucas wanted to be, as they are strong, healthy, handsome, talented, famous, powerful, etc. From this angle, it makes sense why many men and boys would also identify so strongly, and resonate so powerfully, with Lucas's tale. It not only reflects and reinforces traditional "masculinity" in many regards, but provides an escapist outlet or fantasy for men or boys - especially those who may not feel "masculine" in real life - but, because it was personal for Lucas, also makes it "personal" for many of these male fans as well. As such, many of these male fans also most identified with characters like Luke, Anakin, and other male "Force-wielders" as their "favorite characters" in the franchise, as seen with the survey. Even female characters - like Rey and Leia - were still, largely overlooked, and primarily defined by their relationships to men, such as Luke, Han, and Anakin. There is also the fact that, over the years, Star Wars came to be associated strongly with partisan politics - particularly, Republican President Ronald Reagan's program against the USSR, which was literally called "Star Wars" and claims of the original movies being "a response to the Vietnam War. which also permeate into the present day. While I won't go too in-depth in exploring these elements in this post, they are quite real and present, as well as pervasive. This, too, also ties into the "traditional" conservative idea of masculinity, military culture" and identity. Unfortunately, as Disney has tried to steer the franchise in a new direction with the sequel trilogy, trying to make the franchise not only appealing to [white] men, but to women and other minorities - introducing characters such as Rey, Finn, Poe, Rose, and Jannah - many of these male fans see it as an "attack" not only personally, but on this built-up reflection or sense of "masculinity. It is why many alt-righters / conservatives in, and who have flocked to, the fanbase have stirred up so much toxicity and vitriol against these changes, claiming Disney's attempts to "modernize" the franchise as "an attack on it and the fans [i. themselves and their ideas / sense of identity. In another sense, it has also become irrevocably tied to politics - and, particularly, the struggle between the past, and "traditions" and the changing present / future. This attitude is also so prevalent, and so pervasive, that even Mark Hamill - who played Luke Skywalker - admitted that he didn't like, and disagreed with, the changes made to his character in the sequel trilogy at first. However, after Rian Johnson took some time to sit down with him, talk, and explain how and why these changes were made, Hamill also said that he realized that his old view of Luke Skywalker would no longer be compatible with the direction of the series moving forward. So, too, did John Williams, in another instance, feel "protective" of Rey when writing the score for the scene where Rey and Ben / Kylo touch hands in The Last Jedi - only for Rian to, again, sit down and talk with him, and explain how and why that was not the case or context of the scene. The message here was that the sequel trilogy was not about nostalgia for, or revisiting, the past - i. moving the focus from Han, Luke, and Leia to new characters - or about "male knights defending the honor and chivalry of women. It was about moving forward into a new future, with new stories and focus, and allowing women to demonstrate and display their own agency, power, and identity, wholly independent of - and not defined by - men. On another note, there is also the problem I have encountered of, hardcore [male] fans only care about the Skywalkers / male Force-sensitives. In one interview or instance I read, for example, of a former male author for the Star Wars Legends EU, when asked about the Naberries - the family of Padmé Amidala, the wife of Anakin Skywalker, and the mother of Luke and Leia - the writer simply laughed, and said rather dismissively, Nobody cares about the Naberries [or Padmé's family. They only care about the Skywalkers [and Anakin's family. This attitude, unfortunately, was also reinforced by none other by George Lucas himself - again - when Lucas, who originally had planned more screentime for Padmé and her family, decided to cut and remove those filmed scenes from the prequel trilogy altogether. This followed on the heels of Lucas purposefully cutting or out removing scenes that introduced and developed female characters in the original trilogy - including Luke's childhood friend and female Rebel pilots - and making decisions to "sexify" Leia with the "Jabba's slave" scene, which greatly bothered Carrie Fisher at the time of filming. The scenes with Padmé, Anakin, and the Naberrie family were crucial, not only in humanizing and developing Padmé and her character, but also important in showing that Anakin felt as though he was not just marrying Padme for love, but also joining, and feeling welcomed by, her family and sisters as well. In the final cut, however, because of the removal of these scenes - whether either done or time or character reasons, such as to make Anakin more isolated, or just for "dramatic effect. it presents a different context that greatly minimizes the role of women and family in the story of Star Wars. It also removes scenes that were important for the audience to relate to, and empathize with, the loss of the Naberrie family with Padmé's funeral scene at the end of Revenge of the Sith (ROTS) the death of Anakin Skywalker; and his transformation into Darth Vader. Likewise, the scenes with Luke's childhood [girl] friend, and the other female Rebel pilots, were crucial in providing female representation and characters [apart from Leia] into Star Wars - only to be cut by Lucas, because " Star Wars is for little boys, and we don't want to include more girls. This, unfortunately, only served to contribute to the hostility of fans of the franchise towards female characters, even several decades later. Even in more modern and "progressive" shows that take some of their influence from Star Wars, such as Steven Universe, this "nobody cares about the normal or ordinary" attitude has also proven to be a major problem with how fans view the story. While Star Wars is largely based off of Arthurian fairy-tales, and the age of knights and "chivalry" Steven Universe is similar in the sense that it also adopts elements of military and other service; knighthood; leadership; specialness" through the magical or mystical; and defining one's identity through them. The aspect of knighthood is particularly focused on with the character of Pearl, who served Steven's mother as a "knight" in a "master-apprentice / servant" relationship; with episodes like "Rose's Scabbard" see scene here) and "Sworn to the Sword" and with songs like "Strong in the Real Way" which also ties into "strength" and "masculinity" and " You] Do It for Her. However, while Star Wars was written by a man - George Lucas - Steven Universe was written by a woman, Rebecca Sugar. As such, it much more greatly reflects the "female perspective" as opposed to the "male perspective" including more female-coded main characters, and basis more in Sleeping Beauty (primarily Disney's version, later later retold in a "modernized" view with Maleficent) than Arthurian tales; more greatly exploring the male protagonist's relationship to these female characters; and other, more "progressive" things that clearly stray away from Star Wars ' more "traditional" telling of a "Hero's Journey. With Steven Universe, however, which also revolves around the "Hero's Journey" of a half-human, half-alien ( special" male protagonist with "secret heritage / lineage" the son of a famed and powerful figure - many of its fans still complain about "human" or "townie" centric or "slice-of-life" episodes as "boring" and "filler. Because the human or "everyday" aspect of the story are not seen as "special [enough. despite the whole point of these episodes being there for world-building, and to "humanize" the main character - they are seen as "unnecessary. boring" and "tedious" even though they are actually crucial to the character's arc and the narrative overall. Whether the problem lies with Star Wars in particular; this type of writing / storytelling; or the perception of gender identity, masculinity / feminity, and gender roles as a whole in the United States, it is a major issue that needs to be addressed. While Disney has noticed this, and tried to take steps to make " Star Wars for everyone, not just little boys. there is still a struggle there - not only to change decades' worth of a "traditional" look and attitude towards Star Wars and its association with "the masculine / male [wish-fullment power fantasy. but in expanding the world and characters of Star Wars beyond just men and male characters as well. To this end, the focus of the sequel trilogy also inherently centers around this transition - or shift - from the past, into the present/future, as reflected by characters such as Kylo Ren / Ben Solo and Rey. Whereas Kylo Ren / Ben Solo is a "legacy" character - the "Skywalker" of his generation, born into expectations of greatness by everyone around him, only to be failed terribly by how impossibly unfair those expectations were, and seeing as a pawn rather than a person, someone who "has given everything has has" to this idea of living up to, and being defined by, legacy - Rey is both a woman, and wide-eyed, idealistic newcomer. Whereas Rey begins her story as "no one" someone with "no place in this story" she rises to greatness without being defined by any sort of blood relationship to the Skywalkers, or biological ties to "a famous family. someone who owns her own power, and forms her own identity, irregardless of the circumstances of one's birth. However, in the beginning, Rey is kept in a mental prison of her own making by holding onto the idea that her family - and, by extension, herself - are "important" and like with hardcore Star Wars fans who idolize the Skywalkers, hearing that she's not "is the hardest thing she had to face" as per Rian Johnson. Also, much like with the aforementioned Pearl in Steven Universe, one of the main aspects of conflicts within Rey's character and arc - and that of Ben / Kylo - is the struggle to overcome the past; to accept it; and move on. (Which Pearl eventually does by the end of her story, resulting in her "Happily Ever After. At this point in the Star Wars narrative, there are many ways that the story could end - many paths one could take. Yet, in the end, all paths lead back to the source, and beating heart of the series - and that is the message of, The circumstances of one's birth are irrevalent. It is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are. While "a thousand generations may live on" in someone, they are not bound, nor defined, by this burden of expectation. Instead, they must break the chains of their self-imposed mental prison of "expectations" and "tradition" to "fight fear. It is time for them and us move on - and grow beyond the past - to forge a new path. To decide not who society and others expect them and us to be, but who they and we want to be. Or, as a wise man one said, We are what they grow beyond. That is the true burden of all masters...

Warning: Mild Spoilers for Kaiji: Ultimate Survivor, as well as its second season Against All Odds. In a Discord server I mod, one of the bots has an option to gamble with a virtual currency. You gain coins by scoring in a coveted top-three spot for any given artist. The gambling is limited to a single channel, fittingly called #gambling-den, and while at the start I have observed people gambling some of this fake currency, lately its full of users simply gambling “all”. I dont have the channel muted, even though I should have, and I like to gamble all as well - just to see myself lose. Every time I return to the channel - not that this happens worryingly often, simply once in a while - I gamble with the intent of losing everything I got. Maybe this time, I tell myself, I will quit for good. Maybe this time, I will learn my lesson. After all, everything should be in moderation, and I always lose with these things (I was thinking of the gambling moments in the designated city in Pokémon games) and anyway, gambling is haram. Yet I never mute the channel, and I feel a low current in myself, the tip of a dynamite ready to spark: a sliver of a hope to raise the white numbers on a black background. A fuse kicks off when I do, and a cold wind blows out my flame when I dont. Tough luck, I tell myself. Maybe next time. Kaiji: Ultimate Survivor, and its successor Kaiji: Against All Odds tap into this vague rush of luck and unfold it into its extremes: innocuous games develop to sprawling plans of strategy and a deathly corrosion of empathy and selfishness; debt-riddled characters, beginning from the protagonist Itou Kaiji, that put their hope into said games, regardless what happens to their minds and bodies; and lastly, the owners of the devious games that enjoy the sight that presents itself. You could watch Kaiji and thank God your sense of gambling isnt as severe as his. but you could also watch Kaiji and see a millennial suffering through the uncaring systems of this world. The first thing we know of twenty-one-year old Kaiji is that hes just lost a gamble among friends. “The future is in our hands”, doubling both as opening title and poster in Kaijis single-room apartment, quickly unhinges on one side as if it sensed the viewers presence or realized the sheer crookedness of this statement. The narrator quickly adds with a grave voiceover that Kaiji lives in Tokyo for three years, hasnt been employed since New Years, and that he is a bum. He spends his money on beer and gambles and likes to hang stolen emblems of foreign cars like trophies to be won in order to release the pent-up resentment. “Anyone who drives this car cant be a good person, anyway, ” Kaiji says with a petty smile on his face, but moments later, the reality of his situation crushes him: “Its all about money, ” he mutters, lying on the ground while a silent tear runs over his cheeks. Seasoned loan shark Endou pays Kaiji a visit moments to remind him of a debt he cosigned, its crushing interest raising it to unmanageable levels, all of which Kaiji has to pay for alone now. The only way out of it is to enter a ship named Espoir (French for “hope”) alongside an accompanying game: it will either clear his debt or put him into underground work for a year or two. Kaiji seems against it - he wont pay the debt, and to hell with the ship. But Endou is quick to remind him that the worst possible outcome is to continue living like he does. The cruise could be a great opportunity to rid of this “loser” mentality that Kaiji has: his resignation to this life, as unhappy as it is. After all, the things Kaiji wants are always behind display cases, and could he ever think of buying the foreign cars he likes to mutilate? “Youve given up from the beginning and are satisfied by the little pranks you play, ” Endou says as a choir and organs wail dramatically behind him. “If you had ten million, would you do shit like that? Of course you wouldnt! ” Kaiji grunts, all too aware that Endou is right. Must be funny in the rich mans world, ABBA have aptly sung in Money Money Money. almost four decades ago. Kaiji spends two seasons proving them right. Early on in the first arc and in the game provided in the ship. an adult mens card game involving stars, money, a ticking clock, and rock-paper-scissors. Kaiji mentions the desire to be better multiple times. “Once we get out of here, ” he says, “lets turn our life around. Lets really try our best. ” The game itself requires a hand of luck or the confidence to make his own choice, but as Kaiji fails to have either. his cunning is reserved for self-interest at the morally purest level, and hed rather have someone else choose for him. hes quickly scammed by the sly Funai. Kaiji finds himself two new friends to survive the game with, convinced that they wouldnt betray him, and determined to get all three out of the ship hell or high water. The early winners enjoy the game from above with champagne flutes and stars pinned on their chest; the early losers find themselves doomed behind the game room, stripped bare both literally and mentally, dubbed as “hell” by both Kaiji and the narrator. As the four-hour time and card counters tick down ominously, an uneasy, tense electricity passes through the viewer and Kaijis face, which usually alternates between a worried face slick with sweat or wet with tears. To win three stars each for the three with a limited amount of cards and money proves itself a tightrope act, requiring Kaiji to plan on the fly as they are thwarted over and over. It comes as little surprise that the visual metaphors in this show usually revolve around abysses, darknesses, lighthouses, and bridges; red, violet, and blue swirls of dark thoughts and evil intent; monstrous hands that claw and pull at the characters; stretches of zawa, translated as “uneasy atmosphere”. Kaiji stops mentioning this elusive better life in progressing episodes, more focused on friendships and winning for their sake, but he doesnt deny others of their dreams: in the climax of the first arc as well as one of its tensest moments, Kaiji hears the calls of a teary-eyed man and saves him from the literal hell that awaits him. Ironically, it is preceded by a betrayal of the earlier mentioned friends. The show is about as subtle about its observations on capitalism as a sledgehammer flying your way. The ultimate antagonist is Hyoudou, an old and rich conglomerate head who admits he likes to see poor people like Kaiji struggle, that the only form of sincerity is in the face of crushing debt and pain; two henchmen act as players opposite Kaiji, both in season one and season two; the second seasons first game plays out in a prison for debtors, its second in a casino run by the conglomerate, while the Espoir is a sponsored affair. The second card game involves slaves that can win against emperors; a character aptly surmises that the poor dont care about overthrowing the system, simply about being rich themselves. Kaiji has a difficult relationship with society, leading him to unemployment, but he needs to have money somehow. Unsurprisingly, he circles back to gambling, and back into the conglomerates hands. But theres also Kaijis fellow debtors that work against him, equal in Kaiji in every way barring their moral stance: while Kaiji will think of a collective - two losers that could help him out on a ship, say, or a group of workers that owe the local kingpin money - these debtors are driven by a selfish sense of survival. Empathy, kindness, and respect: these are the coordinates that Kaiji operates in such high-risk situations, rewarded by men that believe in Kaijis good graces and help him the best they can. However, these virtues are juxtaposed with Kaijis vice to simply win: a gamble involving tissues that he thinks of on the fly; an accusation of theft that Kaiji seizes as opportunity to offer a gamble; the pachinko game that nobody can beat. “The fucking pigs that thought of this system, where everyone is taken advantage of, are laughing their asses off. The more we think about loss and gain, the more obsessed we become, the more we play into these fuckers hands! ” Kaiji shouts; the next episode, he regrets that hes helped out anyone to begin with; the episode after that, he starts crying at the prospect of (literally) pushing aside someone to win. By the second season, he actively begs for a new gamble, anything to rid of his broke state and clear his debts as swiftly as possible. Hes led by vague beliefs of reaching for the stars, but a moment later the narrator flips around the hopeful image: “Kaiji is back into the darkness of gambling, where the light of stars never reach. ” But in the darkness, he finds the light of fellow men, ultimately able to dispel the fog for even a single moment. “Kaiji, fated to lose, loses; Hyoudou, fated to win, wins, ” recaps the narrator in the second season. Its crucial that only Hyoudou is mentioned here; as much as capitalism favors companies that own as much as possible as fast as possible, there is always a single man behind the company, the ruler over the rulers. We like to think of this singular owner in order to relay it to us, to give ourselves motivation and despair both; this trick involving carrots and sticks is one frequently brought up in the show as well, by the people that think they can claim a part of capitalisms cake. Tonegawa admonishes Kaiji until the game turns in on him, calling him trash and belittling his ability to strategize. He berates another character, Sahara, for even asking more than a fake ticket meaning nothing: “Whether youre a salaryman or a bureaucrat, everyone is risking their lives for money! ” The show makes no illusions on ordinary life: to work up, suck up to people they dislike, and barely save with money - that the characters that are racked up with debt have no way to mingle with that league. In one of the most emotional moments of the show, it draws a link between money ruling the solitary person, the solitary persons isolation, and how connections are all that we have left. It ceases to be about the debts made, gained, regained, and cleared: as two characters ask one another if theyre okay, that theyre here, they can make it to the other side. I am reminded of a moment of Korean future classic Parasite (2019, dir. Bong Joon Ho) in which the poor driver asks the rich man if, despite her lack of cooking, cleaning, or maintaining the house, he loves his wife. The rich man hesitates for a second, then starts laughing. “Of course I do, ” he says with a conviction that love has no materialistic gain. It only propels the poor character to scam the rich some more. The best arcs of Kaiji are the ones where he has some control in the games and said control isnt pulled out of thin air. Ostensibly, its because an active protagonist makes for better stories, a far more engaging watch than a protagonist simply pulled from one moment to the next. But as the show personifies capitalism, gives him a name and an unseemly appearance to match, Kaijis control gains a second and third dimension. Because to talk about capitalism is to talk about control: who gets to have control, who can exact control on you, who bought the game and rigged it. So then, Kaiji seizing the means means a pushback, a rebellion: in a system within a system, he can thrive and win. and maybe get the people around him to win, also. When Kaiji is able to tell the opponents card, it is not by sheer deus-ex-machina, but by observation and planning in the games long term. When he can accurately call out a scam, its with the additional knowledge that Kaiji himself has a counter plan. “We dont care about your rules, ” Kaijis VA sings in the first opening. “We dont care about your morals / We werent born to lose. ” The rebellious attitude manifests best when Kaiji has something to rebel against, and if its in his means. Conversely, the most crushing moments of Kaiji are the moments where the chance of him destroying himself irreversibly seem greater than him winning, when his life is on the line and his irises have shrunk far into his wide eyes. In those moments, its impossible not to think of the pain of Kaijis temporary friends; as if he could hear the viewers thoughts, Kaiji frequently cries for the same reason. Absolute despair, chants the narrator. In her excellent essay collection Trick Mirror: Reflections of Self-Delusion, Jia Tolentino observes that, now more than ever, surviving can look a lot like a lottery. “As wealth continues to flow upward, ” she continues, “as Americans are increasingly shut out of their own democracy, as political action is constrained to online spectacle, I have felt so many times that the choice of this era is to be destroyed or to morally compromise ourselves in order to be functional. to be wrecked, or to be functional for reasons that contribute to the wreck. ” For one and a half episode, we see Kaijis moral compromise in order to function in society: he pushes aside the people that are friendly to him and presents himself as difficult on purpose. But in the gambles and against morally compromised people, his own moral compass shines through. He can only control when its a system within a system, a rigged game he can work against, be it by its design or the opponents cheats. In the workplace, he admits he cant suck up to others and that he hates others that do; in the gambling ship, he berates others that they didnt care about friendship, about the promises hes wholeheartedly believed in. His sole sore spot, expertly pushed by Endou over and over until its breaking point, is when he points out to Kaiji that he cant make choices on his own, and thus control his own life. Control, then, becomes both the bridge the characters crave and the abyss that they all fear. It manifests in the darkness and the hands that seizes hold of the characters. Its Kaijis obsession of gambling, and its lack the empty feeling he senses in ordinary life, desperation and economic bankruptcy beckoning at every corner. Control, simply put, hides in the games of the show, the gambles that Kaiji takes, over and over: the fleeting moments where Kaiji doesnt cry or feels despair, where he takes the scam head-on and has a retaliation, where he can take care of others and of himself. The outside games showcase compulsion. the lack of control. but even then, its hard to admonish Kaiji, who genuinely seems like a good person compromised by the world hes in. In the second openings second half, Hyoudous wide and joyous face twists and turns to a roulette that Kaiji runs on like a ball to someones game, money bills blowing past him. He stretches out his hand to a bird of light; in the next shot, it flies high above the air and Kaiji chases on concrete. He falls, scraped and bruised, and gets up, eyes wide and then narrow as the viewer takes the birds place and flies off to the distance. “I can do it, ” sings the vocalist of Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas. “Stretch out your hand. ” Theres a message pinned to the #gambling-den channel in our Discord server, dated 23rd December. “there is a command called! gamble all alt that will gamble an extreme amount of your coins, and result in gains or losses of up to 25x”. I tried it out and promptly won, totalling my fictional currency to around 100k and, more importantly, got myself a spot in the top 20 currency holders of our server (a proud #13. I tried out the command again, but mixed up the prefix; this was while watching a Kaiji episode, and I felt in my gut that I would lose. I tried again and, as I had predicted, lost all of my currency. A fellow user, one that is very fond of me, sent 500 my way, and right away I felt the embarrassment I always do when receiving presents. “Its not that serious, ” I wrote; but in truth, I still glance at the channel, waiting for the moment when I feel ready to lose it all again. Or, maybe, possibly, gain some more. You know, just so that I can lose it all. Credits: Title is a lyric from ABBAs Money Money Money, off the 1976 album Arrival. Bono is 57 and still has such amazing vocals. Ordinary love movie online free. Ordinary Love is a really surprising film. It's by no means a perfect film but it is a really enjoyable film with emotion done well without feeling too over the top especially for a cancer film.
Liam Neeson and Lesley Manville are really great here. They really do carry this film. Since it is primarily focused on these two characters and pretty much no one else. Liam Neeson is really great here and it makes me wonder why he hasn't done more action films.
Overall it's a very simple told very effectively. It does have a lot emotion and it really does work especially the ending. But it's definitely worth watching.

The second best thing about being a patient gamer, after saving money, is that you know exactly what game you're getting. It isn't always easy to know what an upcoming game is going to look like. And hyped up gamers on the internet are easy to mislead. Sometimes it seems that they haven't actually touched a video game. We're seeing this now with Cyberpunk 2077. There are people online who think it's going to break the mould in every way - that it's actually going to be a cyberpunk virtual reality, not just a video game of the present day, limited by tech and marketing constraints. Red Dead Redemption 2 was similarly hyped up prior to release. Rockstar liked to advertise the sim aspects of the game, like food, rest, clothing for cold or warm weather etc. They really set out to make the most immersive game ever. There was a guy on some YouTube comment section who hoped he could call people the N-word in-game, in the name of historical accuracy. Others were impressed by horse testicles that shrank in the cold. The hype was real. Then the game was released and it turned out to be just a game - an open-world third-person shooter with a long storyline and pretty environments. The sim elements, which set it apart from other games, were criticized by many players as tedious and unnecessary. Setting them aside, RDR2 felt very similar to GTAV. Even the way the screen flashes when you kill someone is the same. The typical Rockstar humour, cringe-inducing yet clever, is present, though it's more subtle. And, just like GTAV, RDR2 turned out to be surprisingly linear. There are some side activities in the open world that offer a degree of freedom, but in the vast majority of missions, the player has to follow a fairly restrictive script. There are occasional choices to be made, but even those are usually binary. It turned out that RDR2 was not particularly innovative - on the contrary, its mission design was downright dated. Still, the game was well-received, so I bought it a few weeks ago, for my birthday. I like cowboys and westerns and whatnot. Everything I had heard about the game was true. It often felt slow and tedious and awkward, but I already knew it would, so I didn't mind (it also helps that I'm unemployed and have a lot of free time. The slowness made otherwise simple actions, like managing your weapons or taking care of your horse, feel rewarding, at least for a while. This experience was enhanced by the excellent visuals and superlative animations, the result of a huge amount of effort and polished by Rockstar's infamous crunch time. Whatever. Arthur Morgan's facial hair looks great. I loved setting camp in the wilderness just to watch his hair and beard grow. The rootin' tootin' cowboy shootin' side of things satisfied me entirely. I'm sure there are games with better gun mechanics, but the guns of RDR2 feel, look and sound spectacular for someone who is not up to date on shooter games. Also, RDR2 was not as easy as I had expected. It is not really a challenging game, but completing all the side objectives is not a trivial task, either. The world itself is gorgeous. It features several biomes and cultural regions inspired by real-life U. S. regions. In this regard, Rockstar were ambitious and imaginative. They didn't always follow Western movie tropes, since most of the map is based on the Midwest and the South, including Louisiana. The biggest city in the game, Saint Denis, is based on New Orleans, and it is great fun to explore. Overall, the map doesn't feel needlessly large, since it's so detailed and its individual parts are distinctive. It's possible to learn to travel it with the minimap turned off. Okay, now I'll address the elephant in the saloon. RDR2 is all about the storyline and characters. Towards the end of the game's prologue, I was struck by the feeling that I was playing a novel, not an ordinary video game. The only other video game that gave me this feeling was The Witcher 3. This is because the writers of the game took great pains to create a world, a story, and a cast of characters that live even outside of what the player sees. RDR2 throws you in the midst of a gang of outlaws that you aren't immediately familiar with (you may know some from the first Red Dead Redemption; I've never played it, myself. Those outlaws have personalities and backstories that don't just puff into existence the moment they are needed. And the dialogue and voice acting are among the best in the medium. For my taste, the one who stole the show was the protagonist himself, Arthur Morgan, voiced by Roger Clark. His character arc is, well, a redemption arc, and it is just breathtakingly executed. The highlight of the game, for me, is a side mission in the latter half of the storyline, where Arthur meets a woman whom he has wronged, and defends her son from a bunch of bullies. I won't say more, but. It's okay to ugly cry at this scene. If you've played the game, you know what I'm talking about. The main storyline, however, is full of contrivances and inconsistencies. It's clear that it was built around character arcs, especially those of Arthur and the boss of the gang, Dutch. The outlaws evolve in interesting and clever ways, but the events that involve them are sometimes forced and arbitrary. However, this needn't bother you too much. RDR2, like GTAV and other Rockstar games, is a bit of a Tarantino-esque satire. It's stylish enough to mask its plotholes. That about wraps it up. What else? The game looks great, but you already know that. I played it on a PS4 (not PS4 pro) and it ran like shit. Luckily it's coming out on PC next month, for the epic gamers. My PC is rubbish.

I'm not very close to my family, at least the one I had to be stuck with. My mom and dad were both junkies who never really did anything past feed me. They weren't really out of the ordinary though I didn't have the greatest of childhoods and honestly without intervention I probably would have ended up just like them. I was a bad kid, probably due to the lack of attention. However in my Sophomore year of High School, I met a girl he would change all that. In addition to being quite attractive, she also had what was perhaps the nicest personality ever. I'm really not exaggerating, she was the sort to forgive anyone who gives a heartfelt apology and desperately tries to make everyone around her as happy as possible. She was the kindest, most caring, more selfless woman in the world. I was assigned mandatory tutoring due to my falling grades and fell for her pretty quickly. I don't know what I did to get so lucky but she reciprocated and truly helped me become a better person. I cleaned up my act, started studying and getting better grades, etc. I actually wanted to be with her forever. I went from being a just another ghetto kid to someone who could actually make something out of his life, and it was all thanks to her. She got pregnant when we were in our Junior year. We wanted to keep it and I went ahead and did a early-little proposal with an onion ring in the cafeteria. We never got officially married but for all intents I considered myself married from then on at the ripe young age of 17. She decided to drop out to take care of our new daughter while I took a part time after school job to support her. Her parents were dead but left a small house to her in their will and mine didn't really contribute at all anyways, so it was just us. We lived off my measly part time minimum wage job and what her parents left to her in her will (about 20k) until I graduated. After that I started working full time at said job, and while I couldn't really go to school or training as I wanted to support my family. Thankfully a godsend appeared in one of those little sponsorships at the end of some YouTube videos which gave me the idea of learning how to code online. I was surprisingly good at it and I worked quite hard before I felt confident in my abilities. I grabbed a couple of certs and I went ahead and worked on some open source projects on GitHub to build up my resume. I then accepted a remote programmer job. It was fairly entry level, but it made good money, about 70k a year, which is unheard of in this area. I suggested we move but my wife was hesitant as she was much more attached to our area than I was. I relented as I found it quite hard to say no to her. This is when the trouble started. People talk about blessings in disguise but to some extent the money I was making was a curse. My parents learned I was making this much and started coming to my house demanding money. My dad came up with all sorts of excuses and guilt tripped me pretty hard. I didn't relent for the most part as I knew it'd probably just be spent on Heroin. I ignored him for the most part but one day he came with another man. Basically this man said my father was about 5k in debt and demanded that I pay up or my father would "face the consequences. Even if he was a scumbag junkie, I still felt like he was my dad. So I went ahead and paid his debts off. This was perhaps the biggest mistake of my life. This drug dealer kept coming to my house expecting to be paid off. My parents, instead of being grateful and trying to reform themselves instead decided to take this as a blank check that I would enable their habits. The drug dealer was apparently under the same assumption as he let them get away with taking exorbitant amounts of product (that or he just jacked up the prices) because the next time he showed up to my house he demanded 25k. I flat out refused. He told me I really should pay or he'd "teach me a lesson" but I was done with enabling my parents bs. If I'm being honest I could care less if he killed those good for nothing junkies at that point, but I was also scared for what I considered my actual family's safety. It took a lot of convincing, but I expressed my fears enough to my wife that she finally relented to the idea of us moving out of our area. I even had lined up an in person job which made an absolute ton of money in a very nice area where our daughter could have a great childhood. Everything was looking up for me. We had about a month before my new job started so we were apartment hunting online and preparing to move. My parents texted me during this inbetween period and asked me if it was true we were moving. I said yes. They begged me not to go but I stood firm. They were quiet for about a day but then messaged me saying they wanted to get clean and asked to meet me at a local restaurant. I really didn't like them and me being the punitive person I was, wanted to go no contact after the whole telling-a-drug-dealer-he's-got-us-covered thing, but my wife being the angel she was believed in redemption and practically pushed me out of the door telling me to make up with my parents. I'll never forget her smile as I left, as that was the last time I saw it. My parents put up a good act. We ate at the restaurant for about 2 hours. They were all sappy and apologizing. It felt a bit weird that two people who had never really admitted their mistakes for all their life were sitting in front of me agreeing with everything I said, but I was just happy. I had gotten a great job and managed to move my family out of this hellhole and my parents were finally showing signs of becoming normal. I probably could never forgive them for what they did, but honestly I taught my daughter deserves grandparents. I was a fucking idiot. After our nice long chat, we said our goodbyes and started our way home. I got home and opened the door. It was totally quiet. Which was a bit weird as usually my wife and daughter would be watching cartoons on Netflix at around this time. She hadn't told me that she was going out which she usually does. My wife for all her strengths had one flaw, which was that due to some abandonment issues she was very clingy and more or less texted me every 30 minutes, so she probably wasn't at the store as I would've gotten a location update. I found it weird but not that weird I guess, they had forgone cartoons before. Anyways, I called out their names. No response. I entered the living room, the light was turned off, which I found very weird. I turned on the light. They were both there, lying down. My wife was covered in fluids, a combination of blood and semen. She had cuts all over her body. My daughter thankfully sees to have gotten off with a slit on her throat. Panicked I called 911. They were dead. The cops took me in and questioned me, it felt like they suspected me for a bit but I told them everything and I think they pieced together what happen. I decided to go straight home and started frantically making plans to move on my own before I stopped and thought about the situation at hand hand here. Why? Up until then I lived my life for her and my daughter. All my academic and career success was because of them. I wanted to move to keep them safe. They were no longer in this world. I didn't have a purpose without my wife in my life. At this point my sadness turned into rage. I went to a gun store, passed a background check and bought my first gun. I had a purpose again. A part of me wanted to become some sort of badass vigilante who took down the drug cartel in my town but I didn't do that. I'm not living in an action movie and I can't shoot 20 people at once. I just waited instead. Sure enough about a week later, the drug dealer came to my house. Alone for some reason. He was pissed that I "snitched" and pulled out a knife. I shot him. The cops came to my house, apparently he had some past criminal issues not to mention the fact he was a prime suspect in the killing of my wife. This is where I am now. I'm a broken man without a purpose. It all just feels so empty. She's no longer here and I can no longer have my family. For that week I had been doing "research" on getting revenge (basically just scouting places out) and that rage fuelled me for a bit but that was finished rather anticlimactically. I really feel like I have no reason to live. I don't have anyone left whom I love or if I'm being honest, even people I like. I don't think I'm capable of ever loving someone again after what she was to me and I don't think I'll ever move on. I'm not really sad anymore, don't get me wrong, I'm devestated over my wife's death, but like, it's all just numb. I feel nothing. I felt glee for about a day after I killed that asshole drug dealer, but I'm just numb now. I know suicides never the answer but I really don't see the point in going on. There's literally nothing to live for.
